Atheists offer free porn to students who will turn in their Bibles

In a stunt designed to infuriate Christians, a student atheist group at the University of Texas at San Antionio is offering to give free pornography to any student who wants to turn in their Bible.

The organization, called the “Atheist Agenda,” calls its campaign “Smut for Smut,” according to reporter Marcia Segelstein.

Members sit at a table in the lobby of the school’s humanities building with a sign that reads, “Trade in Holy Texts 4 Porn,” ready to hand over a pornographic magazine in return for a Bible.

This isn’t the first time they’ve done this.

“They first did this back in December 2005,” reports Segelstein. “At that time, a group member explained to the school newspaper, the Independent, the reasons behind the controversial, in-your-face initiative:

“The idea is that religious texts are so appalling. They are so full of genocide, misogyny and ludicrous ideas that far overshadow any banal common-sense platitudes like loving thy neighbor, that you are better off having porn, which isn’t nearly as smutty.”

Kevin Prather is the Baptist Student Ministry Director at the university.

He shares why he thinks this is happening:

“It is a snapshot of the ‘New Atheism’ that is springing up in America – aggressive and confrontational.

“It outrages the sense of Christians.

“The Atheist Agenda does this solely for this purpose: To get under the skin of Christians and to provoke an angry response so they can point at screaming Christians and say to their peers: ‘See they are angry, self-righteous, judgmental people.’”

While emotions are said to be running high, the only reported response, according to San Antonio television station KENS-TV, is that “some students gathered in protest by reading their Bibles and praying.”

University officials said the campaign falls under the category of protected free speech.

Other leaders of Universal Life Church's just do not have the educational background I possess and it shows. I do not like to belittle them and I'm not trying to embarrass them, but they bring it upon themselves. I'm not a Catholic Bishop because I received an ordination by mail, and the 18 years of education contrary to what my father said weren't shot to hell. As leader of the Universal Life Church, my job is to teach the truth & fact.

With respect to our Universal Life Church we are non-denominational and Independent Catholic.

The ULC in Modesto and the ULC Monastery in Seattle are better referred to as interdenominational

With the ULC Monastery, Ordained Ministers are not Members of The Monastery as it appears on their ordination certificates. Members of the Monastery would be parishoners. Memeber of the Clergy, or Memeber of The Monastery is far more proper.

With Faith-Based, I know I read on the ULC Seminary website how they think ULC Modesto ordinations were faith-based, NO they are not. They are not Christian Ordinations, they are interfaith not devout to any sect of faith.

Once known by its Spanish name Rio Carrabelle, the success of this historic Gulf Coast town is directly tied to its link to the Gulf and its Carrabelle River access. Carrabelle's position on the coast allows oil to be transferred from Gulf refineries, across the Florida peninsula through the Three Rivers Pipeline to Jacksonville markets. Although there's an industrial side to the town, recreation and tourism are most prominent. This beautiful reflective scene along the Gulf Intracoastal waterway emphasizes Carrabelle's title of boating and fishing capital of the Forgotten Coast.

One of the few historic towns in Franklin County, Carrabelle's economic past was not only tied to the Gulf's rich waters, but also the dense inshore pine forests. Before the first railway was established by 1893, hearty yellow pine, cypress and turpentine were shipped out by schooner. In the late 1800's, a string of lumber camps and sawmills sprang up along the Carrabelle River. As the lumber industry waned during the next century, Carrabelle residents continued to rely on the seafood industry. Returning to its true roots as a fishing village, locals continue century old traditions, gathering shrimp, oysters and saltwater fish. Today, tourism is also a big part of Carrabelle's economy, entertaining its share of Big Bend guests. If you're one of Carrabelle's visitors, make sure to check out the world's smallest police station in town. This conversation piece is actually an old phone booth.

To All Universal Life Church Faith Based Ministers:

It has been brought to my attention that one of the Internet's "Ordination Interfaith Assembly Lines" maybe meeting with its demise, or hard hit with legal issues in the near future and that I am to expect a fallout of Ministers ordained by this organization.

When Brother Daniel approached me in 2008 about taking control he did so with good reason. I have an impeccable track record as corrobarated by the BBB of NW Florida over the course of the past 30 years. I am well educated and extremely knowledgeable in leading a Global Religious Organization.

Know that we have a solid infrastructure online and off. Yes we are faith based and we do not ordain those outside our realm of faith. However this does not mean we are unprepared in handling a large inflow of non-Christian Ministers. We have several options in place awaiting deployment should the need arise.

I just want to put your minds at ease. My father taught me to always stay one step ahead and this has served me well. Our vision for the future is strong, unsurpassed by any one of our competitors. If any of our ministers ever have an ounce of concern, my door is always open. I lead by example with a hands-on approach, always have, always will and this will never change.

I will always follow the needs of our Ministers and the needs of those we serve first and foremost. Lets do it people, the Universal Life Church cares. The concerns, the love and willingness to help those in need will never be compromised.

Christian Leadership Must
Have Positive Character Traits.

Christian leadership must have positive character traits or it is not real Christian leadership. A Preacher's character counts in determining the quality of leadership.

This is important because the minister must first be a good Christian before he can be a good Preacher. If he is not a good Christian it is impossible for him to be a good ministry leader.

"Practice what you preach" is still an appropriate quality for me and all Christian ministers. We can say that we don't care what people think, but if we say that too often we won't have anyone to minister to. That sort of defeats the purpose of being in the ministry, don't you think?

There are several areas that we need to work on to live our life with Christian character.

Principles
We need to live our lives by Biblical principles that transcend every situation. In other words, we don't live and lead by way of situation ethics but by the never changing principles of the Word of God. That will make us leaders with true Christian character. More on living by Biblical principles later.

Christian leadership must have integrity. There must be a moral soundness in every area of our lives. That doesn't mean the preacher doesn't make mistakes. We do. We will. It doesn't mean we are perfect. We are not. We will not be. But it does mean we admit our weaknesses and continually seek to live a life that is above reproach.

Once again, it doesn't mean we are perfect, but it does mean we seek to make everything in our lives right before God and man. Don't seek to make it just look right before God and man. Seek to make it genuinely right before God and man. Start with making things right before God, and He will help you make things right before man. More on integrity later.

Motive
Another part of Christian character is making sure our motives are right before God and man. What we do is important but why we do it is more important to God. In fact, He said He would even judge our motives. He looks at the thoughts and intents of our heart.

We must ask ourselves why we do what we do. We must ask ourselves why we are in the ministry in the first place. It makes a difference. More on motives later.

Credibility
Our credibility is important in the ministry as well. Our credibility, to a large part, determines if anyone will follow our leadership or not. There are three kinds of credibility. There is conceded credibility, cultivated credibility, and then there is coerced credibility. More on credibility later.

Legacy
We will leave a legacy whether good or bad. Our job as ministers is to leave a legacy of real Christian leadership that emulates Christ and points people to Christ, the Master Leader. What spiritual legacy will you leave behind? More on our spiritual legacy later.

Character is the inherent complex of attributes that determine a persons moral and ethical actions and reactions. It is important for the Christian to have good character. It is very important for the minister to have good character.
