Official Universal Life Church Newsletter

Universal Life Church Newsletter

A weekly newsletter is like a weekly sermon, where do I start? I hope I don't leave anything out?

Daily Bible Readings

This is always the best way to start your day or end your day, so I start this week's newsletter with our Daily Bible Readings. Until today I was publishing Daily Bible Readings in our our ULC Magazine via the ULC Network. It has worked out great, but than I started thinking not everyone reads from the same Bible, there is different versions. I also thought wouldn't it be nice to offer such in both English and Spanish.

SO.....What did I do?

I moved our Daily Bible Readings to our ULC website on our Outreach Page by doing so and through the help of our friends at dailybible.com we now offer five different versions and yes we offer both English and Spanish versions.

Our Daily Bible Readings just like within the Roman Catholic Church encompass the complete Bible in one year. By reading our selected readings each day, you will read the entire Bible each year.

Daily Prayer Petitions

For those of you who join in on our ULC Facebook Community Page you know that each day we offer Daily Prayer Petitions, that you can enter into a worldwide Prayer Network through our online ULC Prayer Chapel. Instead of going through our ucatholic.com website, I have chosen a more non-denominational path on Facebook. Your intentions will still be heard just the same, perhaps in even greater numbers than by just going through a Catholic prayer network. You can add your Daily Prayer Petition on the same Outreach Page, captioned just below our Daily Bible Readings via our ULC website.

Why Do We Not Offer Confession?

Other ULC's or online services may offer Confession Forms online, we do not and this is not a mistake. I believe no one man or woman has the authority to absolve sin or act as a liaison for our Heavenly Father regarding absolution and/or forgiveness of our sins. If an individual wishes to discuss their transgressions with me, I'm all ears and I will try to comfort that individual all I can, but I just do not feel I have the authority to say you are forgiven by telling the individual to repent and/or to say pennance.

Universal Life Church Community Network

The Universal Life Church since our origin in the second century it has always been a Christian Church, however many other faiths do exist, including "Life Church" founded by Kirby Hensley in 1959. Despite being non-Christian and contrary to our beliefs they are still our Brothers and Sisters, excluding followers of satan or atheists our ULC Community Network is open to all, ministers and/or the general public are allowed to join. It'll provide an opportunity for interaction and for global outreach to help build our individual ministries. I do ask our ministers to use your appropriate title to distinguish you from the general public.

            Affiliate Church Yard Signs

Professionalism is the huge difference between us and other ULC's, I make no bones about it, no other ULC comes close to the professionalism we exhibit or that our ministers exhibit. Throughout my childhood, throughout the education process I was taught appearance is extremely important with being a minister of the Christian Faith. Others may say, we're just out to make money. Not true, we're out to provide our ministers the very best and absolutely everything they need to look the part as that of a Minister or as a Congregational Affiliate.

Our latest product is Church Yard Signs I assure you these are of high quality, the imprint is on both sides, the sign itself is made out of corrugated plastic and the stand is metal. The sign itself measures 27" x 18". I specifically use a Black Imprint on White Gloss Stock for visibility. These signs will identify you as a minister and/or make known your home Church or even Bible Study.

Ministers who do not have a Charter of Congregational Affiliation you are limited to your name and phone number on the signs. For those ministers with a Charter on file, your Church Name can be displayed instead of Universal Life Church at your discretion.

I want to strongly encourage all Ministers to use our Ministry and/or Church Supplies, make yourself look professional. Minister ID Cards, the Handbooks, the Annointing Oils, Communion Wafers, Clergy Shirts, Bulletins, Tithe, Building or Offering Envelopes.....

In one of the previous blogs (see below) I suggested leaving tithe or offering envelopes, using real professional envelopes or bulletins as such make a huge difference. If you look and act like a real Church, even if it is in your home, you will see a dramatic rise in tithes or donations. Last night I put out our new Yard Signs on Facebook. I'll have this in the newsletter tomorrow, but yard signs for home Churches can only help in making you look more professional. Wear your name badge in public. Professionalism and looking the part is absolute necessities.

People may want to attend Church in jeans or cutoffs, but the Ministers must maintain professionalism and this is what I hope sets us a part from other online endeavors.

Don't forget about the building envelopes. One of our Ministers left behind a building envelope with someone at a nursing home and he got a check in the mail for $5,000. Another one got included in on an individuals will. I personally have a lake home in Muskego, WI the owner intends to donate when they pass. I was thinking of offering scout troops in Milwaukee the opportunity of using it.

If I go into an affluent retirement community to serve communion, I easily walk out with $500 + in tips. I split the money with one of our Tallahassee Ministers who does Sunday Service there twice a month. I go in on Holy Days and in between service. I always leave an offering envelope and when I return they hand them to me when I leave another.

Even one of our Ministers from Wisconsin wants to donate a 14 million dollar building (THE MILWAUKEE DREAM BLOG) for someone who carries out his dream. There is a great deal of benevolence but it doesn't come to those ministers who are not proactive.

Helping You To Fund Your Ministry - Sometimes it just requires work, effort and a bit of creativity.
Every Minister should keep a box of communion hosts on hand. This is perhaps one of the most important facets of being a Christian Minister, to provide Holy Communion or the Eucharist to anyone who may request it. I strongly urge all ministers to stop by nursing homes, retirement homes, assisting living care facilities, hospitals and etc., to see if they can provide this service.

Other good items to carry with you is rosaries, chaplets, scapulas, prayer cards, even crucifixes and any other items you can think of. Don't feel funny to ask for payment for these items. If you don't have money to stock up on these items, just tell people this and bring it next time through. You can leave behind a Tithe or Offering Envelope, this is a great way to help fund your ministry or for folks to pay for these items in advance. Bibles are usually plentiful, but many times folks will ask of you to bless their bible. Remember with everyone you visit leave behind a bulletin and include a tithe or offering envelope, you may want to include a building offering envelope too. The donation you receive for rendering such services may just shock you.

In today's world people are less apt to simply give to you a donation, they expect something in return for their money and funding your ministry requires work and effort. Money is not going to drop from the heavens.

With Church Bulletins we sell packs of 100 for $12.95. You can print one up via your computer with Microsoft Word, than use that one as a Master, either your local printer can print additional copies or you can supply the blank bulletins instead of the printer using his paper. The information you want to include, your contact information, services offered and etc., make bulletins a glorified business card. If you have unused space, simply add a prayer. These are excellent items to leave behind with a tithe or offering envelope, be creative.

Make sure you get to know what we offer to you through our online store. http://www.ulcnetwork.com
